The Clean Truck Check is a program by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) aimed at reducing emissions from heavy-duty vehicles operating in California. This initiative mandates regular electronic emissions inspections for diesel and alternative fuel vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) over 14,000 pounds.

Known formally as the Heavy-Duty Inspection and Maintenance (HD I/M) Program, it applies to both in-state and out-of-state vehicles, including trucks, buses, and motorhomes, that use California’s public roads. By targeting these high-emission vehicles, the program addresses a significant source of road pollution and promotes cleaner air across the state.
